UFEC (Union of Sports Federations of Catalonia), coordinator of the Green Team project, presented online course to promote green and inclusive sporting events.
The UFEC has presented the Green Team project, a European initiative that it proudly leads and that is co-financed by the Erasmus+ program of the European Commission.
This project becomes a key piece in the UFEC’s strategy to promote more sustainable, environmentally friendly and inclusive sporting events, thus consolidating its commitment to the protection of the planet and social responsibility.
Aware of the environmental impact that sports activities can generate, from the UFEC we want to be pioneers in the transformation of sports practices to make them more sustainable. We want to adopt a proactive attitude in the fight against climate change and in the conservation of natural resources. We understand that, as a reference institution in the Catalan sports sector, we have the responsibility to inspire, train and encourage good behavior both in the federations and in the clubs and athletes, promoting a sporting practice that respects our environment.

One of the most anticipated deliverables of the project is the online learning course on the organization of sustainable sports events , which will be accessible for free by any sports actor. This educational tool not only provides practical knowledge on how to organize green events, but also reinforces the importance of incorporating values such as sustainability and inclusion into the day-to-day of sport.
The Green Team Project is not only aimed at minimizing the environmental impact of sporting events, but also emphasizes social integration, promoting mechanisms so that the most vulnerable groups and at risk of exclusion can actively participate in the sports activities Therefore, this project is not only an opportunity to transform sport into a tool for environmental protection, but also to promote social justice.
At UFEC, we are convinced that the future of sport must be green and inclusive. That is why we strive to become a role model, not only in competitive terms, but also as drivers of a necessary change towards a more environmentally and socially responsible sport.
